Judith Gray

Dr Gray is a former professor in Education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and at Antioch University, Seattle. She is also a veteran high school and middle school teacher and administrator. Judith has published 6 books and many research articles on the topics of movement, technology, the arts and teacher practice. Most importantly, Dr Gray has taught successfully for The Heritage Institute for over 12 years. The classes and courses offered by Dr Judith Gray have been designed explicitly for classroom teachers, childcare providers, parents and Pre K – 12 educators. Dr Gray has tested and refined all the ideas and strategies that she presents to her students and participants. She has supervised new and experienced teachers in a variety of educational settings and is very active in the school reform movement around the country. Judith has a PhD from the University of Arizona and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction. She has teaching and administrative credentials from Washington, California and New Zealand and most recently earned a Certificate of Program Evaluation from the University of Washington, Seattle.


Emmet Marshall II

Emmet Marshall is President of the Mail Advertising Bureau, a family owned and operated marketing and mail fulfillment bureau in Kent, Wa. Emmet has been a long-time supported of youth causes, and served for 5 years on the board of Community for Youth, a model mentoring program for disadvantaged youth in three of Seattle's lowest performing high schools. Mail-ad Bureau has been a continuing supporter of Youth for a New World, handling the mailing and printing needs pro bono.


Carol Kibble

Carol is a recently retired teacher from the Seattle School District where whe taught at the elementary level for many years. She considers herself a strong 'earth advocate' and is affiliated with many environmental groups, including Seattle Climate dialogues. She sees her involvement with YNW as an important way to effect the changes in education that need to happen at this time.


Vicki Robin

Vicki Robin is well-known as the coauthor with Joe Dominguez of the international best-seller, Your Money or Your Life: Transforming Your Relationship With Money and Achieving Financial Independence (Viking Penguin, 1992), available now in ten languages She is currently updating the book for the 21st century (Viking Penguin 2009). Vicki has appeared on hundreds of radio and television shows, including "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "Good Morning America" and National Public Radio's "Weekend Edition" and "Morning Edition"; she has also been featured in People magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Money, Woman's Day, Newsweek, Utne Magazine and the New York Times. Newspapers around the world have reported on her work on lowering consumption in North America. Among her many accomplishments, she is co-founder of the Conversation Café.


Mike Seymour
President of the Board & Volunteer Acting Director

Mike Seymour is President of The Heritage Institute (www.hol.edu), a progressive program of continuing education for K-12 teachers, in the Northwest, offering place-based earth and social history programs--and leading edge educational curriculum--through field studies, workshops, distance courses and foreign travel programs that reach educators in the Northwest, around the US and the world. THI programs are informed by a mission to "Educate for Humanity"-a commitment to promote a vision of education that furthers a world that works for all. Previously, Mike was a family therapist treating children, couple and individuals, as well as organizational consultant to schools and small businesses. Mike is author of the recently published book Educating for Humanity: Rethinking the Purposes of Education with contributions from well-known educators, and has produced a video of progressive schools which he presents a national conferences. Mike is founder and President of the Board of Youth for a New World with a mission to Inspire young people globally to contribute to a world that works for all, and he is also its acting Director. He initiated its first program the AfricaAmericaExchange, linking students in Burundi, Central Africa and the USA.


Cindy Tangen
Secretary

Cindy is a marketing and communications consultant for area hospital, medical practices, parks and recreation agencies and the American Lung Association of Washington. She has been a successful fund-raiser and has implemented many marketing campaigns for hospital services, with extensive experience in direct mail, brochures, print media, public relations and web advertising. Cindy is a Board member of the Association for Women in Communications, Seattle Chapter, and a graduate of the University of Washington in Communications.
